May is upon us! After a wet winter, we are so glad that spring is
here. That means the opening of the Healdsburg Certified Farmers’
Market is just around the corner; opening this Saturday May 4th at 8:30
am.
We are the Friends of the Healdsburg Farmers’ Market. Our mission is to
educate the public about the importance of local, sustainable
agriculture by creating and distributing brochures, newsletters, and
newspaper columns; to educate the public about the health benefits of
fresh, local, seasonal produce through activities such as special events
and cooking demonstrations; to provide a permanent location and
facilities for others to promote local, sustainable agriculture; and to
expand outreach and collaboration with other agricultural and health
related nonprofit organizations in northern Sonoma County.
In keeping with that mission, we’ve been busy the last two years,
working with the board of the Healdsburg Certified Farmers’ Market and
the City of Healdsburg. Your donation to the “Friends” helps the market
to grow and thrive. We fund outreach, education programs and marketing
for the market. One of which is our Season’s Chart;
Click on the link to download a copy. It colorfully outlines what
produce is in season during the year to help you when you shop. Place it
in your kitchen for easy reference before you visit the market!

To
continue these projects we need your financial support. To thank you
for your membership we will send you a small gift. A donation of $25 or
more receives a colorful Friends of the Healdsburg Farmers’ Market
decal. Don’t forget the Saturday Farmers’ Market opens for the season
May 4th, 8:30 am to noon. The midweek Tuesday morning market will return to the Healdsburg Plaza beginning May 28 from 9 am – 1 pm.
Thank you for your interest in locally grown delicious food. We hope
you’ll help us by continuing to support the Friends of the Healdsburg
Farmers’ Market. You can make a donation online here.
