Support Local Agriculture: Donate to Friends of the Healdsburg Farmers’ Market

Dear Friends,

As a valued supporter of our community, we are reaching out to you on behalf of Friends of the Healdsburg Farmers’ Market, a non-profit organization dedicated to sustaining and promoting our local agricultural community. As we strive to continue our mission, we are seeking support from individuals who understand the importance of preserving and enhancing our local food systems.

The Healdsburg Farmers’ Market is not just a market; it’s a gathering place where farmers, artisans, and community members come together to celebrate and support our local growers. Over the years, this vibrant market has become a cornerstone of our community, providing access to fresh seasonal, locally grown produce and fostering a strong sense of community.

Your donation will play a crucial role in supporting the Healdsburg Farmers’ Market and its associated programs, such as educational initiatives, community events, and initiatives that promote sustainable agriculture.

Here’s how your contribution can make a difference:

  1. Support Local Farmers: Your donation directly helps local farmers and artisans by providing them with a platform to showcase their products, boosting our local economy.
  2. Climate Change Solutions: Supporting local farmers reduces food miles – the distance that food is transported, thereby reducing our carbon footprint. The average piece of food travels 2,000 miles.
  3. Educational Initiatives: We believe in the power of education such as hosting cookbook authors and cooking demonstrations to promote sustainable practices. Your donation will support educational programs that raise awareness about the benefits of locally sourced and sustainably grown products.
  4. Community Engagement: We organize events and activities that bring the community together. Your support guarantees that we can continue to create a space for people to connect, ensure a long-term, permanent location for our two Farmers’ Markets and share in the joy of locally produced goods.

To make a tax-deductible donation, please visit our donation page here or send a check payable to Friends of the Healdsburg Farmers’ Market to PO Box 683, Healdsburg CA 95448. Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a meaningful impact on the success of our market and the well-being of our community.

Thank you for considering supporting Friends of the Healdsburg Farmers’ Market. Your generosity ensures that our community continues to thrive, and local farmers can sustain their livelihoods. If you have any questions or would like more information about our organization, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Thank you for being a part of our community and for supporting the Healdsburg Farmers’ Market.

Warm regards,

Katie Murphy

Healdsburg Certified Farmers’ Market on the Healdsburg Plaza

We need your support

May is upon us!  After a wet winter, we are so glad that spring is here.  That means the opening of the Healdsburg Certified Farmers’ Market is just around the corner; opening this Saturday May 4th at 8:30 am.

We are the Friends of the Healdsburg Farmers’ Market.  Our mission is to educate the public about the importance of local, sustainable agriculture by creating and distributing brochures, newsletters, and newspaper columns; to educate the public about the health benefits of fresh, local, seasonal produce through activities such as special events and cooking demonstrations; to provide a permanent location and facilities for others to promote local, sustainable agriculture; and to expand outreach and collaboration with other agricultural and health related nonprofit organizations in northern Sonoma County.

In keeping with that mission, we’ve been busy the last two years, working with the board of the Healdsburg Certified Farmers’ Market and the City of Healdsburg. Your donation to the “Friends” helps the market to grow and thrive.  We fund outreach, education programs and marketing for the market. One of which is our Season’s Chart; Click on the link to download a copy.  It colorfully outlines what produce is in season during the year to help you when you shop. Place it in your kitchen for easy reference before you visit the market!

Season's Chart

To continue these projects we need your financial support.  To thank you for your membership we will send you a small gift.  A donation of $25 or more receives a colorful Friends of the Healdsburg Farmers’ Market decal.  Don’t forget the Saturday Farmers’ Market opens for the season May 4th,  8:30 am to noon.  The midweek Tuesday morning market will return to the Healdsburg Plaza beginning May 28 from 9 am – 1 pm.

Thank you for your interest in locally grown delicious food.  We hope you’ll help us by continuing to support the Friends of the Healdsburg Farmers’ Market. You can make a donation online here.

Wine Tasting at Wednesday Market…

The Wednesday Evening Healdsburg Certified Farmers’ Market is excited to announce the start of a new Weekly Wine Tasting in the beautiful Wetzel Native Plant Garden adjacent to the Farmers’ Market.

Each week up to three wineries will sample their varietals. There will be different wineries throughout the season, from Healdsburg and the surrounding area. This is a great opportunity to try several different wines in a beautiful location, perhaps from wineries you may have walked or driven by many times. Discover hidden treasures you never knew about. After all, this region teems with incredible wines!

July 12th is the opening for this unique market event. The fee is $15 for 6 tastes, with additional tastes for $2. Run by the 501(c)(3) Friends of the Healdsburg Farmers’ Market, this is a benefit to raise funds for the market, and to encourage people to attend the Wednesday Evening Market by bringing an important piece of local agriculture into the market.
